Summer Cyclo-Cross Races

Whilst the main Cyclo-Cross season runs from September to January there are also some summer events organised within the Wessex and Southern regions.

These are usually organised as Go-Cross events under British Cycling rules.  They are ideal for newcomers wishing to try cyclo-cross as well as for more experienced riders looking for some summer races to sharpen their fitness.

Here are some of the events planned for this summer, more to follow as details become available.

Note that all Summer Cyclo-Cross races are organised as Britsh Cycling Go-Cross events which means you don’t need BC Membership or a Race licence to take part.  Just turn up, sign on, and race.

 

Cotswold Veldrijden Summer CX Series

A fantastic series of four races to warm you up for the start of the cyclo-cross season in September.  Newbury showground is an excellent cyclo-cross venue with a great area for racing plus parking, toilets, changing facilities, and tea and cakes provided by the Cotswold Veldrijden club.

Venue:  Newbury Showground (close to M4/A34 junction).  Postcode RG18 9QZ

Dates:  4 rounds

Saturday 12th July
Saturday 19th July
Sunday 3rd August
Sunday 17th August

Races:  There will be three races at each event

11:00    Under 12   (15mins)
11:45    Youth    (30mins)
12:45    S/J/V/W     (60 mins)

Entry fees from £5 for Youth and £10 for Seniors, Veterans and Women.  Under 12s are free.

Newbury Summer CX Series

Thursday Evenings,  5th June, 12th June, 19th June, 26th June, 3rd July, 10th July.

Entry is on the day.

Race Timetable:

18:00   Under 14s 10 minute race

18:20  Under 14s 20 minute race

19:15  Over 14s 40 minute race

Entry Fees:   10 min race £2.00,  20 min race £4.00,  40 min race £8.00   (returnable number deposit £1.00)

Organised under British Cycling Go-Cross rules.

Helmets are compulsory.

You need a suitable Mountain Bike or Cyclo-Cross bike that is in good working order.

Car Parking:  Please use Pay & Display opposite park (not Leisure Centre car park).  Fee is £1.00

Western Summer CX Series

The Western Summer CX Series uses venues in the Bristol/Bath/Gloucester area and this year will consist of 10 races from May to July.

  • Round 2 –  Weds 21st May, Hengrove Park, Bristol
  • Round 3 –  Weds 28th May, Warmley Park, Bristol
  • Round 4 –  Weds 4th June, Oldbury Court, Bristol
  • Round 5 –  Sun 15th June, Boating Lake, Gloucester
  • Round 6 –  Weds 18th June, Hengrove Park, Bristol
  • Round 7 –  Weds 25th June, Odd Down, Bath
  • Round 8 –  Weds 2nd July, Warmley Park, Bristol
  • Round 9 –  Weds 9th July, Lockleaze Open Space, Bristol
  • Round 10 –  Weds 16th July, Oldbury Court, Bristol
