Crispin Doyle (Swindon Road Club) won the Bill Higson Memorial event staged in Prospect Park to the west of Reading on a warm and dry Sunday. The latest venue for the Wessex League, the course consisted of a large park with a technical wooded copse and apple orchard. There was a large climb which the leading riders could ride up must most decided to revert to scrabbling up in single file. Michael Cotty (Wheelbase-Cannondale) won his second Wessex League race in a row when he crossed the line almost a minute and a half ahead of his nearest rival at the end of the North Hampshire Road Club event in War Memorial Park, Basingstoke, on Sunday. Cotty, the 32-year-old from Rownhams in Hampshire, was 1-22 ahead of rival Dan Lewis (RAF CA) at the end of the event, which was run off over park land and included the wooded copse to the south. Report Round 2, Swindon RC, 2nd Oct 2011

Wheelbase-Cannondale rider Michael Cotty mastered sweltering conditions in Swindon to win the second round of the Wessex League – and the third round of the Western League – at Lydiard Park. The 32-year-old Hampshire rider beat the promoting club’s Crispin Doyle in the seniors, which was the feature race in a day of racing which had attracted around 200 riders to the venue.
