Report Round 1, Oxonian CC, 15th Sept 2012

  Ben Sumner (Beeline Cycles) won the first round of the Wessex League at Oxonian’s event at Cowley to the west of Oxford. Ben out sprinted Luke Gray (Trek Cross Collective) by a second on the line to win the league opener. The event was held within the ground of the Oxford Spires Academy on terraced football pitches which provided the climbs and a very narrow technical wooded section to the north of the school. Report Round 12, Thruxton, 22nd Jan 2012

Dan Lewis (RAF CC) won the final round of the Wessex League at the Thruxton Motor Racing Circuit in Hampshire on Sunday – his second win in as many weeks after a win last weekend bringing his season to a successful conclusion. The race held at Thruxton was the second trip to the venue this season and although it remained dry it was extremely windy causing problems for the course builders trying to keep the tape on the poles all race. Report Round 11, Southampton, 26th Dec 2011

The traditional post Christmas race saw a hardy bunch of riders brave the mild temperatures to burn off some of their festive calories. The course at Southampton Sports centre was the same as the national trophy race a few weeks ago, and the ground was firm under wheel with very little wind. Report Round 10, Poole, 18th Dec 2011

The latest round of the Wessex League was held on the forestry land of Wareham Forest to the west of Poole in Dorset.  The course was long and very fast on the fire breaks with a sandy base and a lot of tree roots to negotiate on each lap. Each lap of the senior race was approximately nine minutes in length so plenty of time to split the race up. Report Round 9, Harwell, 11th Dec 2011

The latest round of the Wessex League was held within the vast grounds of the Harwell Laboratory just to the south of Didcot in Oxfordshire. The course was laid out on a hilly course with plenty of climbs and some tricky off camber knife edges to negotiate. Report Round 8, Gloucester, 4th Dec 2011

Steve James (Hargroves Cycles) was crowned South of England champion after a thrilling finish to the title race at Beaufort County School in Gloucester. The 19-year-old rider from Crowthorne in Berkshire won by just three seconds from Wheelbase rival Michael Cotty. The race held within the school grounds just north of Gloucester on an overcast dry day. The ground was dry and fairly firm for all the races. Round 7 of the Western League took the action to Chilton Edge School near Reading on a dry but very windy day. The course was laid out around the sports fields with a twisty section through the wooded section near to the school buildings. Round seven of the Wessex League was held in the grass land just outside of the Thruxton Motor Racing circuit five miles west of Andover on the Hampshire-Wilshire Borders. Report Round 5, Oxford, 30th Oct 2011

Today’s races were held at the campus of Westminster College near to the centre of Oxford. The course was laid out over a couple of playing fields and a large wooded area which borders the college. The morning started dry and windy, the grass was a little damp on top due to overnight rain, however the weather was to take a turn for the worse and rain came in for the combined Vet/Women/Junior race and this helped make to top surface very slippery in places.
