Leaders Jerseys
A leader’s jersey is awarded after each event to the leading rider in each category. When the series is close it may not, however, be possible to figure out who is leading in time for the podium presentation.
The overall winner at the end of the season will keep the jersey. During the season, the rider holding the jersey is more than welcome to take it home providing they can then take it to the following event. If they are not, and could be caught up by another rider in the next event, then they can use the jersey for the photo opportunity and hand it back. But it’s theirs by name and right.
We have two jerseys for each category (in two different sizes). If the rider who has the jersey chooses to ride in it but loses it, the spare (clean) one will be given to the new leader.
Counting Events
NOTE: although there is now an extra event (1st December, Dalton Barracks), we are sticking to the existing number of counting events, as detailed below.
The number of counting events for the Wessex 2019/2020 League is 10
This is calculated from the 16 (including Regional Championships) events divided by 2 = 8, plus 2 = 10 counting events.
For Junior and Youth riders the number of counting events for the Wessex 2019/2020 League is 7
This is calculated from the 16 (including Regional Championships) events less those clashing with National Trophy Events, which is 6, less a further 3 events = 7 Counting Events.
Under 8, 10 & 12 riders
A “Wessex League Competitors Medal” will be awarded to all boys and girls who compete in 5 or more races over the season. For riders who ride 9 or more races it will be a Gold Medal. For riders who ride 5, 6, 7 or 8 races, it will be a Silver Medal. Records of participation tables are at the bottom of this page.
